Created for the artist's wife at her request, this study after Albert Bierstadt's original, depicts a beautiful turquoise lake, living and dead trees along the shore, and a majestic mountain partially obscured by misty clouds in the background. To create this masterpiece, George Porter used just four tubes of paint - Grumbacher Academy: Cadmium Yellow Light Hue, Cadmium Red Light Hue, Cerulean Blue Hue and Titanium White. His version varies from the Bierstadt original with the addition of a stunning fish eagle in the foreground, depicted after it departs with its most recent catch.
