Mountain Lake after Albert Bierstadt by George Porteracrylic on canvas, 24" X 36". Created for the artist's wife at her request, this study after Albert Bierstadt's original, depicts a beautiful turquoise lake, living and dead trees along the shore, and a majestic mountain partially obscured by misty clouds in the background. To create this masterpieceGeorge Porter used just four tubes of paint - Grumbacher AcademyCadmium Yellow Light Hue, Cadmium Red Light Hue, Cerulean Blue Hue and Titanium White. His version varies from the Bierstadt original with the addition of a stunning fish eagle in the foreground, depicted after it departs with its most recent catch. To commission a new master landscape painting by George Porter, please contact the artist.

Andy in the Mountains after Albert Bierstadt

Fine artist George Porter created Andy in the Mountains as a study of Albert Bierstadt's famous In the Mountains. A gift for his daughter, it was painted in loving memory of Andy Andy Bo Bandy, her chestnut thoroughbred gelding and eventing champion, who died tragically on May 21, 2014. On the far shore you can see the artist's daughter on Andy watching, dressed for a dressage event, as Andy now leaves this world, galloping wild and free in the right foreground. Behind him, his grandfather, Seattle Slew, can be seen in the rocks watching over the newborn foal. Patiently waiting in the light-filled clouds above, a heavenly Andy waits for the artist's daughter who will always and forever be his "person". Andy you were magnificent and you are missed every day.
