AufWiedersehen David
AufWiedersehen David

AufWiedersehen David (Commissioned-SOLD), acrylic on canvas, 30" X 40". Painted by George Porter for a friend as a memorial painting of her father, who died when he was in his mid-40's. Filled with symbolism, it depicts a vague memory that his friend has of her father, as she and her sister watched him reading a book in a forest in Idyllwild, California, where he was teaching performing arts classes. He is shown in the forest scene and on stage working on a set for an upcoming play. Billboards from Stanford University and UCLA, his alma maters, decorate the set, and the Stanford Chapel is seen in the glowing forest sunlight. Keeping an eye on his protege is the ghost of Sigmund Freud, whom her father studied in college.
