White Rabbit (Commissioned-SOLD) 36" X 48", an original acrylic painting by Lake Oswego fine artist George Porter appeared in the 2016 Fall Juried Show at Oregon Society of Artists.
White Rabbit is the artist's first allegory, a painting that explores modern sociological issues and stereotypes through classical literature. Drawing on C.S. Julia Backstage (Commissioned-SOLD), acrylic on canvas, 20" X 16", an Homage to Edgar Degas and Classical Ballet, by fine artist George Porter. In this beautiful painting, George Porter has combined elements from two pastel masterpieces after Edgar Degas, using his same impressionist style, with modern images from classical ballet, to create a beautiful new acrylic painting that successfully blends old with new. Julia Backstage captures the feeling and softness of Edgar Degas pastels in a different medium (acrylic), and on a different substrate (canvas). Truly a masterpiece in its own right. Although the original painting has been sold, a fine art canvas print of Julia Backstage is available for purchase in the artist's online shop.
